Not to be confused with the Bear Den Mountain subsummit on the way to Dial Mountain, this Bear Den is a sub-summit on Whiteface Mountain's eastern flanks. It is a well-defined ridgeline with a small bump at the end. That ridgeline and small bump offer some excellent ledges and views westward to the upper northeast face of Whiteface, most of the Olympic ski hill, and a nice view through Wilmington Notch to the distant MacIntyres. A good trail leads up from the Flume Trail Network and/or from the Bear Den parking lot of the Whiteface Ski Resort.
